9:37: Williams seems to be in rhythm. She's up 3-1 in the second set and had little trouble.
9:34: Evert has turned into comedian. After Dick Enberg raved about the "gentlemen pensioners" the older gentleman who sit at centre court, Evert said "that is where you'll be sitting next year." Enberg announced that his is his last Wimbledon.
9:33: Venus Williams breaks Date-Krumm and now lead 2-1 in the second set.
9:26: TV analyst Chris Evert says the "slimy" and "greasy" grass surface has slowed down Williams. However, Venus is able to hold her serve and it is now 1-1 in the second set.
9:21: Date-Krumm wins opening game of second set on her serve.
9:16: On the eighth try, Date-Krumm takes the first set from Venus Williams. Date-Krumm had been 0-7 on set points including a quadruple in the tie-breaker and 14 unforced errors.
9:15: Date-Krumm serving for her eighth set point.
9:13: Date-Krumm has had seven set points and lost them all. It is now 6-6 in the first set tie-breaker. Venus Williams lost her only set point.
9:12: Date-Krumm had four set points. Lost one on Venus ace and missed a drop shot. Lost a third by going wide.
9:10: Williams now down 4-2 in the tiebreak as the two players change sides. There have been three set points and all failed.
9:06: Date-Krumm sends first set to a tie-break with a drop shot winner. Williams had won five consecutive games and was at set point.
9:05: This time it is Williams who fails on set point. Back to deuce.
9:00: This is not the same two players who started the match. Williams goes up 6-5 in the first set with a game ending ace. All the errors in Williams game are now showing up in Date-Krumm's. Kudos to analyst Chris Evert for predicting the reversal.
8:57: Once down 5-1, Venus Williams has battled back to 5-5 and is serving. Date-Krumm who hit almost every winner to open the match is now missing first serves and hitting into the net. Both players have had their serves broken three times in the first set.
8:56: Venus staves off third set point. It is now deuce again.
8:55: Date-Krumm is serving for the set. This is her third set point. She lost the first two of course.
8:50: Williams climbs back to being down 5-4. Date-Krumm will serve for the set for a second time.
8:49: Analyst Chris Evert says at some point Date-Krumm will let down and Venus Williams will pounce but Williams hasn't seen that let down yet.
8:46: Date-Krumm has another set point in the opening set. And Williams gets it back to deuce for a second time.
8:45: Now at deuce with Williams serving.
8:44: Date-Krumm at set point.
8:40: Date-Krumm gives Venus some hope by double-faulting away her chance to win the first set. Williams is down 5-3 but is now serving. Of course, Williams has lost three of the four games that she has served.
8:35: Venus wins her first game while serving but trails 5-2 in the opening set to Date-Krumm. However, Williams did put together a couple of aces and seems to be finally seeing her game awaken.
8:31: Date-Krumm up 5-1 and is totally dominating Venus Williams. Many of the games aren't even close as Williams seems to be slow to the ball and Date-Krumm hitting every corner she aims at.
8:27: Williams' serve continues to plague her. She is down 4-1 in the first set and has lost all three games in which she has served. Date-Krumm continues to fire winner after winner by Williams.
8:25: Williams finally on the board as she breaks Date-Krumm. Williams trails 3-1 in the opening set. But she has to start serving much, much better.
8:20: Date-Krumm is now up 3-0 on Venus Williams in the opening set. What makes it worse is that Williams has now lost her service twice and has scored a single point during her serve.
8:16: Venus now down 0-2 in the first set. Date-Krumm has moved her around the court at will and is scoring some easy passing shots.
8:14: Bad start for Williams. She did not win a single point on her serve and is down 0-1 in the first set.
8:12: The Venus Williams-Kamiko Date-Krumm second round match is now underway.
